Goal: Humanely control stray dog population to prevent overpopulation and rabies spread.
Uncontrolled stray dog populations can pose serious public health and safety risks, including the spread of rabies. Through our Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Stray Dog Population Management program, we aim to address this challenge humanely and sustainably. In collaboration with Trichy Corporation, our initiative focuses on systematic sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs, supported by community awareness and responsible adoption practices.
The program includes large-scale spaying and neutering drives across the city, accompanied by ear-notching or visual tagging to track treated dogs. Beyond surgical intervention, we also promote "Adopt, Donβt Shop" campaigns, encouraging citizens to give stray puppies loving homes instead of buying pets. Our field teams conduct door-to-door and public education campaigns to discourage feeding or sheltering unsterilized strays, ensuring long-term community engagement in population control.
Our goal is to sterilize and vaccinate 100% of the stray dog population in Trichy within the next three years. By stabilizing the population and curbing future births, we can significantly reduce dog-related conflicts, prevent rabies outbreaks, and create a safer environment for both animals and humans. Humane, strategic, and community-led, this program reflects our commitment to responsible animal welfare and public health.
