Goal: Educate the public and dog owners on rabies prevention, post-bite vaccination, and the risks of zoonotic diseases.
Rabies remains one of the most fatal yet preventable diseases affecting both humans and animals. Our Rabies Awareness & Zoonotic Disease Education Program is a city-wide public health initiative designed to educate residents of Tiruchirapalli and other districts about rabies prevention, post-bite care, and the broader risks associated with zoonotic diseases. With a special focus on high-risk communities such as slum areas and densely populated zones, this initiative aims to bridge critical knowledge gaps that currently endanger lives.
Through street campaigns, school-based sessions, and community workshops, we spread awareness about rabies as a deadly viral disease with no cure once symptoms appear—but one that can be effectively prevented through timely vaccination. We also focus on educating dog owners about responsible pet care, periodic vaccinations, and their role in stopping the spread of zoonotic infections. Our teams distribute educational posters, organize interactive sessions, and run digital campaigns to reinforce these life-saving messages across all corners of the city.
Over the next three years, the program aims to reach 1 lakh residents across Tiruchirapalli, ensuring they are well-informed on anti-rabies protocols and first-response actions after a dog bite. Our goal is to bring down public ignorance on rabies-related precautions to less than 10% through continuous engagement and monitoring. Together, we believe this proactive approach can help create a safer, healthier community—both for people and animals.
